It is no secret that our annual Dovecote Festival is always one of our favourite events of the year for the wonderful musical talent displayed and the wonderful atmosphere as we gather outside and appreciate our mutual love for music.
Despite the difficulties of lockdown, we wanted to continue the tradition of the festival and deliver something our whole school community could enjoy. Senior School musicians past and present rose to the challenge and put together some fantastic solo and ensemble performances, including some real tear jerkers! Their dedication is admirable and it is amazing to see what these young people have achieved in such a short space of time.
Dovecote Festival 2020 will also celebrate the contributions of our community initiatives. As well as the massed sing and play of “We’ll Meet Again” (a virtual book of individual moments will be released alongside this performance over the summer), the concert will conclude with our virtual choir and orchestra performance of “Caravan of Love”. This will be accompanied in the concert by video footage of the many folk involved, but it is important to note that some additional singers and players also provided ”audio only” submissions which again will be acknowledged and published with a full list of performers during the summer.
Please join us from the comfort of your own home and share with us the power music has to bring us together and lift our spirits…
Sixth Form Open Evening Join us on Thursday 14th November at 6pm to find out why Yarm is the area's leading Sixth Form.
