Open Events

Our next Open Events are listed below, along with key information about how they work and what to expect on the day. We can’t wait to welcome you into school soon.

  • Whole School (3-18) Open Morning: Saturday, 25th September, 9.00am – 12noon

All Open Events are subject to Covid-19 restrictions being lifted as set out in the current government roadmap. In the event of a change in government restrictions this event may have to be run virtually. We would then contact all registered families with the appropriate links to our Prep and Senior School webinars.

All Prep School families must pre-register for our Open Morning on Saturday, 25th September to enable us to provide you with a suitable time slot for a personal tour of the School.

Whilst not mandatory, we also highly recommend that all Senior School and Sixth Form families pre-register as this will ease the sign-in process on the day. The Senior School is unable to offer pre-booked time slots for tours, however a number of pupils will be at hand to run regular, personal tours throughout the morning.

Pre-register here.

Here’s an insight into what you can expect at one of our whole school Open Mornings…

Where and when should I arrive?

All families should arrive at the Senior School between 9:00am – 12noon. Our Senior School is located in Yarm, North Yorkshire and can be found just off Yarm High Street, bordering the River Tees. We are easily accessible for people travelling from around Durham, Teesside, Wynyard and North Yorkshire and are just a short bus or taxi journey away from Eaglescliffe train station. We are a

Our Estates staff will be on hand to help you park on our school site upon arrival.

All visitors to the Prep School will have the option to either hop on our shuttle bus which will be parked on our Senior School site or take a short walk up the hill. The Nursery, Pre-Prep and Preparatory School are located just outside Yarm High Street, across The Spital and on the opposite side to the Senior School.

Senior School visitors will be directed to the reception area in the Auditorium by our Sixth Form students.

What does the day look like at the Senior School?

You will have the opportunity to tour the School, speak to pupils and teachers and get a feel for what life at Yarm School is really like. There is a timetable of activities planned to take place throughout the morning, including science experiments, dance, drama and sport which will give you a flavour of our academic and extra-curricular provision.

The Headmaster and Deputy Head (Academic) will deliver a presentation covering everything you need to know about joining the Senior School, once between 9:30am – 10:00am and again between 11:30am – 12noon. Families are advised to attend one of the presentations, making time for a tour either after 10.00am or before 11.30am (please allow up to 1 hour for your tour).

What will the day look like at the Prep School?

To ensure you find out everything you want to know about the Prep School, we invite all families to book a personal tour in advance. Our Prep School secretaries will liaise with you to allocate a suitable time and will advise you to arrive 10 minutes ahead of your time slot to ensure you get parked and transferred to the School on time.

You will be taken on a guided tour of the School by one member of staff and one pupil, who will be on hand to answer your questions and offer you an insight into a typical school day. There will be a range of exciting activities taking place around the grounds, including sport, music, design technology and science.

What happens if I want to visit both the Prep and Senior School?

If you are interested in visiting both schools, we recommend that you first book a tour at the Prep School as all Prep School tours require you to have pre-booked a time slot. You can visit the Senior School, and attend one of the talks from the Headmaster, between 9:30am – 12noon.

How do I register for open events?

If you are interested in attending, please complete our short pre-registration form below. Pre-registration is required if you wish to visit the Prep School. You will be able to register on the day at the Senior School, although pre-registration is always advised.

If you can’t make our open event but still wish to visit the School, please get in touch.

Will there be a Sixth Form open event?

Prospective Sixth Form students are also most welcome to attend our Open Morning. As well as being able to get a feel for the School and the Sixth Form, you will have the opportunity to visit the subject departments you’re most interested in. Teachers and students will be on hand to answer your questions and talk further about life here at Yarm Sixth Form.

We also host a Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday 10th November. This event will allow families to hear more about the Sixth Form in a presentation from the Headmaster and Head of Sixth Form. There will be information about the admissions process, the academic curriculum, our outstanding A Level results and the range of extra-curricular opportunities on offer. There will also be a further opportunity to speak to staff and current students from each A Level subject.

For more information about our Sixth Form, download our latest prospectus.

How often are the open events?

There is a whole school Open Morning each September. If you are considering entry into the Senior School in September 2022 or maybe at the start of a future academic year, we would advise you to attend on Saturday, 25th September 2021.

Our Prep School holds another open morning in January, as well as a number of Open Weeks throughout the year. There is also a separate Sixth Form Open Evening in November.

What if I can’t attend any open events?

Open Morning is a fantastic opportunity to get a flavour of school life but we appreciate not everyone can attend. If you would like to arrange a visit, please complete the Visit Yarm form or contact our Admission Secretaries as appropriate:
