Let the adventure begin at Prep School

Pupils are taught to be ambitious and seize opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. Our curriculum is wonderfully broad, dynamic and responsive to the needs of our pupils.

Be Inspired at Yarm Sixth Form

Our students consistently achieve exceptional A-level results and receive the pastoral care and support needed to flourish as young adults beyond the Sixth Form.

Our Sixth Form

Since its foundation in 1978 Yarm School has become the major educational success story in the North East.

Our aim is to provide pupils with the attributes they need to develop into adults who will contribute positively to society. It is important to us that the necessary skills are honed within a caring, friendly and mutually supportive community.

We believe strongly that every pupil should develop hobbies and interests; not only are they a source of much happiness at School, but they also develop self-confidence, inter-personal skills and interests which will stay with the pupil for many years. Each pupil is strongly encouraged to take part in at least one extra-curricular activity from a huge range of clubs and societies which meet either at lunch-time or after school on a regular basis. Over 50 activities take place each week, as diverse as Canoeing and Chess, Horseriding and Silversmithing.

We Are Yarm School

Headmaster

I feel incredibly lucky to be Headmaster of such a fantastic school. The sense of community at Yarm is second to none and we value our place in our local community, too.  The breadth of opportunity on offer means that there is something for everyone to discover and in which to thrive.  Our pupils are confident without a shred of pretentiousness and our talented and passionate staff guide and support each individual on their personal journeys of discovery. This is no ordinary school!

I love the sense of community at Yarm. It is a relaxed and friendly environment where you build strong relationships with other pupils and teachers. It is great how you get to know the teachers so well and that they get to know you.

Yarm School is such a friendly place to work. I am lucky to work across the whole school and get to know the pupils, teachers and parents.

Teacher - Nursery

Our nursery is a home from home - the children (and their parents) love the warm and friendly environment. We are so lucky to have wonderful outdoor spaces for the children to explore and learn. Every day in Nursery is an adventure, from investigating creepy crawlies in the woods to learning French by singing songs.

Prep School Head

Adventure, discovery and the thrill of learning abound from the very first day a pupil joins us. There is a unique buzz about life at Yarm and a genuine warmth that runs throughout our community. We are committed to working in close partnership for the benefit of every boy and girl. It’s a pleasure, a privilege and huge amounts of fun helping each pupil flourish as they journey through the School. We love what we do and so will you!

One of the best things is the variety of extra-curricular opportunities available and that you can get involved in practically anything at anytime. I have enjoyed a wide range of activities since First Year, with Rugby, Hockey, Drama and the CCF being just a few of the many highlights.
