Coach Service

As one of the leading private schools in the North, we welcome pupils from across the North East and North Yorkshire. Our dedicated coach service caters to this, covering areas like Stockton, Middlesbrough, Darlington, Hartlepool, Hutton Rudby, Northallerton, and Thirsk. Our coach service is available to pupils from Year 3 (Prep) onwards.

Here is a summary of our bus routes around the North East for the current academic year, 2025-26.

There are three local coach companies with whom we work, in addition to our own coaches. All of the coaches have seat belts fitted which are required to be worn at all times. There is usually a regular driver on each route who knows the pupils. Each morning and afternoon there are members of staff on The Spital and on the pelican crossing to assist pupils using the service.

The coach service is an important element of the School’s environmental responsibilities and is very well subscribed, with over one third of all pupils (Prep and Senior School) using the service daily.

Coach Passes to Yarm School

Various passes are available for all of our bus routes to provide flexibility for our families. These include:

• Full Pass: Permits travel on 5 mornings and 5 evenings per week.
• Morning / Evening Pass: Permits travel on either 5 mornings or 5 evenings per week.
• Flexi Pass: Permits travel of a minimum of 3 journeys a week, a mix of both AM & PM. These are set days each week.
• Study Leave Pass: Discount on all types of passes during the summer term.
• Single Journey Pass: Permits a single, one-way journey on any day. (Must be booked 24 hours in advance.) These may only be issued to Prep School pupils (Year 3-6) if they are travelling with a sibling in Senior School.

We also offer discounts on fares to families with more than one child using the service.
