Yarm’s Community Action Group step out in Funky Footwear

Yarm School pupils stepped out in funky footwear to raise funds for The Teesside Charity.

Organised by the Community Action group, pupils and staff came to school in mismatched shoes, trainers, boots, crocs, sandals and a few individually decorated pumps!

The inaugural Funky Footwear day raised £350 for The Teesside Charity, with whom the Community Action Group have been working to try to provide school footwear for underprivileged children and teenagers in our wider community.

The Teesside Charity was formerly the Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation; the charity’s key function is to financially support community groups and charities based within Teesside which promote social wellbeing, and provide support to those who find themselves at a disadvantage in the society they live in.

Thank you to everyone who made a donation to wear their own shoes to school, as well as those families who donated new school shoes directly.

The Community Action Group is a Thursday activity available to pupils in Senior School and Sixth Form with the aim of contributing to the local community through volunteering, projects and fundraising.
