Motivated by the increasing amount of litter seen on local fields, parks and roadside areas, has pushed Yarm School pupil Rosie to take action to help protect the environment.
Rosie is determined to make a real difference in her community. Her enthusiasm for caring for the planet has helped her become a strong voice for sustainability within the school.
As an active and passionate member of Yarm School’s Eco Club, Rosie has helped inspire both pupils and teachers to take part regular litter picking sessions across the wider area. These discussions have encouraged pupils and teachers to play a part in improving the local environment. More members of the school community are beginning to think about their environmental behaviour, including the impact of plastic waste, recycling habits and day to day choices.
Rosie’s work has also reached well beyond the school grounds. Her eye catching posters, have encouraging people to look after the environment, can now be seen along Yarm High Street and in public spaces throughout the town.
Her goal is not only to remove litter but to change attitudes. Rosie hopes that by raising awareness now, the community will adopt long term habits that will help protect the environment for many years. Rosie’s message is simple, yet powerful: everyone has a role in keeping Yarm beautiful.
The school is incredibly proud of Rosie’s achievements and looks forward to supporting her continued environmental work.
