Parents from Yarm Prep School have donated a significant sum to local charity, Home-Start Teesside, following a fundraising ball which was organised by the school’s social committee.
Parent Sharon Gerrard, who volunteers for the charity, nominated them as an organisation to support which was backed by the Yarm Prep School Social Committee (YPSSC), who recognised the impact of their work in supporting families and changing lives in the local area.
The Enchanted Forest fundraising ball brought together parents and friends of the prep school for an evening of entertainment, dinner, and fundraising, all with a magical woodland theme. Part of the evening’s funds raised were matched by Santander, and another part were matched by Barclays.
The funds raised will help Home-Start Teesside continue its work providing emotional and practical support to parents with young children, especially during challenging times such as isolation, postnatal depression, and financial hardship.
Graham York, Trustee of Home-Start Teesside said: “We are incredibly thankful to the Yarm Prep School Social Committee and all who attended the Forest Ball. This donation will make a real difference to families across Teesside. It’s wonderful to see the community come together to support the work we do.”
Mr Bill Sawyer, Head of Yarm Prep School said: “We are extremely grateful to the YPSSC for organising such a fantastic evening. Their commitment and generosity are a shining example of the strong community spirit here at Yarm. Home-Start Teesside is a truly deserving charity, and we are proud to support their work with local families.”
