National Orienteering Success for Yarm School Pupil

Sixteen-year-old Dominic Green has been selected to compete for England in the M18 category at the orienteering Interland Cup 2020 this March.

The Interland Cup is England’s only international orienteering competition outside of the British Isles and is a five-cornered match against two Belgian teams, the Netherlands and NE France.

Selection for the Interland Cup was based on the results from five events which Dominic competed in last year. Dominic won three of these selection races.

Dominic’s interest in orienteering first started when he was 11-years-old when he attended an event at Preston Park. His passion for the sport and competing grew after joining the Cleveland Orienteering Klub. Although he has previously been a part of the England Orienteering team, this will be the first time Dominic will be competing for the country.

He says “I am delighted to be selected and I am looking forward to competing on a national level. My main focus is on trying to win in March but in the future I would love to compete for team GB”.
