Yarm School celebrates as 21 students secure competitive medical, dentistry and veterinary offers from leading universities

Yarm students are to swap the classroom for the clinic after 21 received offers to study medicine, dentistry and veterinary science at universities in the UK and overseas this year.

The offers include places at institutions such as the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, UCL, Newcastle University, Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Sunderland, as well as universities in Valencia and Madrid.

Of the 21 students receiving offers, 17 have secured places for medicine, three for dentistry, and one for veterinary science. These are notoriously competitive courses with very low offer rates nationally; Yarm School is perennially successful at supporting students in their applications.

The offers follow a rigorous application process contingent on academic achievement and performance in admissions testing and interviews. Students at Yarm School are supported throughout the process with in-depth knowledge of the application timelines, dedicated preparation sessions, including mock Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs), and targeted support for admissions examinations. They receive guidance from staff and peer support throughout the Sixth Form, enjoying the school’s weekly student-led Medical and Dental Society, links to mentors, and regular guest speakers.
