Home » Vacancies » Cover Supervisor
Deadline Date: 02nd April 2026
We are looking to recruit a well qualified and adaptable cover supervisor to join our bank of cover staff to support our Senior School operations. Cover supervisors provide adult supervision for a class when a teacher is absent. The cover supervisor ensures that the pupils in the covered class get on with the work that has been set by the absent teacher, ensuring that a focused working environment is sustained for the pupils. When not needed for classroom cover, the postholder may be requested to undertake other duties within school, such as internal exam invigilation or taking a morning or afternoon registration period.
Flexibility is a key aspect of this role as one day, week or month will never look the same, and the offer of work can sometimes be made at short notice, due to the unpredictability of staff absence or illness. The offer will be on a casual basis, with no confirmed minimum hours per week (zero hours contract) from the School, and no obligation for the successful candidate to accept shifts. The post will commence ready for the summer term (22nd April 2026).
Please apply as soon as possible, the deadline for applications is 12 noon Thursday 2nd April 2026. Suitably qualified applicants who are shortlisted will be invited to interview at the main Senior School site during the Easter holidays. We reserve the right to interview and withdraw the job advert in line with fulfilling our requirements prior to the deadline. All applicants must use the application form provided on our website vacancy page. We cannot accept applications in any other format. Please also submit a covering letter addressed to Dr Huw Williams explaining your suitability to the post. Applications should be submitted to: hr@yarmschool.org.
Yarm School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and the successful candidate will be subject to vetting checks including an enhanced DBS check.
