PSHE
Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) forms an important part of the education of all the pupils at Yarm School.
Experienced teachers help children to deal with issues relevant to their particular age group in a way that encourages them to participate and to reflect on their development as individuals. Issues range from how to get along with others, to maintaining our health, to study skills, to global issues. PSHE is not formally examined, our emphasis being on the continuing development of independent thinking skills and critical analysis of current issues.
The lessons are delivered by the same member of staff throughout the year, which allows pupils and staff to develop a good working relationship. Lessons include many opportunities for discussion and for independent study, as well as for written work, computer presentations, role plays and poster work.
The programme is always under review and is changed and updated as appropriate. For current details of programmes of study for each year group, please click on the link.
