House System
The vertical House System complements year groups by offering a dynamic opportunity for pupils across the age range to interact and develop. With four School Houses, this means that a quarter of the tutor groups in each year are also from the groups for each House.
Each House is led by a Head of House, supported by their team of House Tutors and the senior pupils that act as House Officers.
Aidan, Bede, Cuthbert and Oswald provide inspiration and opportunity for pupils to involve themselves in a wide variety of events, social functions and activities that make a significant contribution to the life of the School and pupils' own social development. All of the Houses are also heavily involved in charitable works and fundraising throughout the year. These provide opportunities for pupils to develop their leadership, organisational and teamwork skills whilst getting to know each other across the age groups and having fun!
It is usual for siblings to be placed in the same House but we are always happy to try to accommodate parental requests. There is also close liaison with our Preparatory School to allow for existing friendship groups and we use information supplied by parents and previous schools to try to create House groups of roughly equal academic ability and sporting, musical and cultural talent in order to facilitate House competitions and activities.
Please see the individual house pages in this section for further details.
