Independent Learning
Independent Learning refers to the opportunities for pupils to engage in projects and activities which give them a new angle on learning away from the more traditional classroom approach. Many subjects take the opportunity to take pupils on educational visits to enrich the curriculum, and develop this work with individual or group projects.
For some years, we have sought out opportunities for pupils to engage in Independent Learning on a whole-school basis. To this end we have engaged Lower School pupils in challenging and exciting Independent Learning days and weeks, where they are encouraged to work well in teams and as individuals to accomplish a given task, such as designing a new board game or working on a drama production inspired by religious, literary and historical sources. The pupils have been extremely receptive to these experiences.
