Antigone was a captivating production delivered by Fourth Year pupils and directed by Mr Hall.
In this classic tragedy by the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles, Antigone is forced to choose between the edicts of the state and the rightness of her cause when the new King of Thebes, her uncle Creon, does not allow her dead brother to be buried. Two uncompromising positions clash in this play that raises questions about family loyalty, democracy and tyranny, the battle between men and women, and the power of religious belief.
