Extra-Curricular
We are very proud of the extra–curricular activities programme offered at Yarm School. It is both rich and varied, providing a wealth of opportunity for all. Our aim is to offer an all-round education, encouraging all pupils to make the most of their academic talents but also to develop skills, hobbies and interests which will stay with them into their adult lives. Further details of all we offer can be found by exploring the associated pages of this section and by browsing through our Term Calendars or our Newsletter archive.
As well as the range of extra-curricular opportunities at lunchtimes, after the school day, at weekends and during the holidays, we also pride ourselves on running a unique programme of activity lessons which take place within the timetable on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. All of our pupils are involved in the Tuesday / Thursday sessions and there are over fifty different activities on offer on each day. This list continues to grow as staff and pupils explore new ideas and further possibilities. Please see the page on our Tuesday / Thursday activities programme for further details.
The clubs, societies and activities taking place at lunchtimes and after school vary throughout the year, according to the seasons, and details are made available at the start of each new term. Please click here to see a summary for the current school term.
Concerts, drama productions, competitions, lecture evenings, or House and charity events also take place during the school year, as do a vast number of other trips, visits and expeditions which are offered as a result of the interests, enthusiasm and commitment of the School community. Weekends and school holidays are busy periods for many Yarm pupils as they take advantage of the opportunities on offer, many of them adventurous in character. All of these are detailed in the Yarm School Term Calendar. We also produce a trips and expeditions booklet that is published separately to summarise the extent of this aspect of school life.
