Inspection Report
It is with great pride that I present the report written by the team from the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate who inspected Yarm at Raventhorpe on behalf of OFSTED in November and December 2011.
We are delighted with the judgements the team made, which were based on a wide range of evidence gathered during their two intensive visits (listed on the closing page of the report). Our “happy, caring, family” atmosphere communicated itself clearly to the inspectors, who were more than impressed by the confidence, kindness and ambition of our children, and by the very positive relationships which exist between members of the school community: pupils, teachers, support staff, and parents.
Inspections of independent school EYFS settings (our Nursery and Reception) use the same terminology as OFSTED reports, so it is enormously pleasing once again to have our EYFS setting judged to be Outstanding in every area and Outstanding overall – the highest possible rating.
From Year 1 upwards, the highest level of achievement in independent school inspections is Excellent, rather than Outstanding, and no overall judgement of the school is made. I am tremendously proud that the inspection team judged our school to be Excellent in most areas – including Pupils’ Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development, the Quality of links between School and Parents, and the Quality of Leadership and Management – and Good in all others. The report wholly endorses the direction of the progress which we have made in recent years, and praises our determination to engage in on-going, self-critical evaluation and improvement.
We will use the report to help us shape the development of the school, strengthening the ways in which it provides for all members of its community now and in the years ahead.
