Music
Classroom music teaching at Yarm at Raventhorpe is dynamic and practical, and the children learn both musical appreciation and the technicalities of notation, composition and theory through studying topics that inspire them, and by7 making link with other curriculum topics where appropriate.
Choral singing is a encouraged throughout the School, with a weekly hymn practice for children in Year 1 upwards. This leads to impressive performances at various musical events throughout the school year, as well as in school assemblies.
Music activity clubs give children the opportunity to make music together, including the very popular Djembe group, mini-orchestra and the choristers.
A good number of visiting music teachers are able to offer individual tuition on a range of instruments including piano, keyboard, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, cornet, trumpet, guitar and drums. Some instruments are available for loan to children when they first take up an instrument. A charge is made for individual music lessons and details are available upon request.
