The Board of Governors at Yarm School has taken the difficult decision to close Yarm at Raventhorpe School at the end of the academic year in July. The decision follows extensive consultation, statutory negotiations with staff, and a thorough consideration of all available options.
The majority of Yarm at Raventhorpe pupils have indicated their intention to take up an offer of a place at Yarm Preparatory School.
The Board of Governors is also pleased to confirm that transport to Yarm will be provided free of charge from September.
David Dunn said: “I am of course saddened that Raventhorpe has to close, however I am pleased that a majority of parents have decided to send their children to Yarm School. We assure them all of a smooth transfer and a very warm welcome here at Yarm.
“In addition, we are also pleased to report that some of the Yarm at Raventhorpe staff are presently in talks with us about joining the staff at the Prep or Senior School.”
Mr Dunn added: “We wish all the pupils well as they leave the school in July and thank their parents for their loyal support. We also pay tribute to the excellent staff at the school.
“We can confirm that the school will operate as normal until we break up in July and we hope that pupils not transferring to the Prep School will stay with the school until then, in order to complete the academic year.”
