Arkwright

The house is named after the English textile engineer Richard Arkwright (1732 – 1792). Arkwright, the youngest of 13 children and born into a very poor family is most famous for inventing the Water-Frame, a machine capable of spinning a strong uniform thread. Arkwright is an inspiration to us because he was an ambitious young man who overcame tremendous personal odds to become a self educated and tremendously successful businessman. We take his self belief and determination into all we do at school.
