House System
Every pupil who attends Yarm Preparatory School is a member of a House. The House System helps to draw out the best from our pupils. The houses are made up of pupils from Year 3 to Year 6. There are 4 houses at the school:
- Brunel
- Stephenson
- Arkwright
- Telford
A spirit of friendly rivalry exists between the Houses, rivalry which is given ample opportunity to manifest itself in a wide range of inter-house competitions. Students are encouraged to develop a sense of pride in their House, working not just for themselves but for others. Charity fundraising activities are also organised by Houses, as well as a whole school, further fostering the concept of a caring community which is central to the aims of Yarm Preparatory School. On an individual basis, pupils are awarded points for good behaviour, effort and good work. All pupils’ contributions are equally important to the overall success of the houses.
“Work hard for your house and have belief in yourself and your team-mates. Encourage those who do the things that you can’t and try hard when it is your turn to show what you can do. Don’t wait to be asked! Look out for opportunities to gain housepoints and to help each other to gain housepoints. Little things can make all the difference” Mr Jones and Mr Sellers (Pastoral Coordinators)
