Catering
My name is Martin Strangward and I am the Catering Manager for Yarm School. I have worked with the School now for more than 6 years and have built up a good, strong, loyal catering team. Prior to working at the School I was Executive Chef at Redworth Hall.
Sodexo are the contract caterers for Yarm School. We have worked in the independent schools sector for over 50 years and have an operating and support team dedicated to our 140 schools. We are proud to include Yarm School in our portfolio.
We recognise the importance of constantly evolving and revitalising our services to ensure that we remain totally engaged with our customers. We actively seek and welcome feedback from parents, pupils and the School staff.
We keep in touch with all the pupils on a daily basis and encourage a friendly, open atmosphere in the dining room. We hold weekly cookery activities which helps the pupils gain confidence with basic cooking skills. We are also actively involved in explaining the benefits of eating healthy and a good balanced diet.
To produce the best food you need the finest of ingredients. We use our experience, our knowledge of the market place to deliver delicious menus using the best available ingredients, for example 'red tractor' accreditation meat is farm assured, use of numerous fair-trade products, fish is 'marine stewardship council' accredited and our fruit and vegetables are sourced based on seasonality to reflect our menus. Our food is freshly produced daily.
Recently we have relocated to a new ‘state of the art’ dining room and kitchen in the Senior School. This has enabled and inspired the team to deliver an outstanding service. The pupils have more space and enjoy the relaxed informal atmosphere.
