Yarm School students set for Oxford

Five students at Yarm School are thrilled to have received offers of places at the prestigious Oxford University.

They will be studying a wide variety of subjects at the highly ranked university, including economics & management, German & Russian, Bio-Chemistry and French.

Katie Anderson and Sophie Elliot have received offers from Brasenose College, Isobel Jury from Worcester College and Michael Lister and Phoebe White from Pembroke and Keble Colleges respectively.

David Dunn, Headmaster at Yarm School, said: “We’re delighted for our pupils; their dedication and commitment to their studies and extra-curricular activities has been rewarded and their excellent potential recognised.   The offers they have earned for Oxford are fully deserved.

“Every year the competition increases for places at the top universities and, along with fantastic GCSE results, pupils must also have high predicted A level grades, complete an aptitude test and impress in a rigorous interview.   At Yarm School we endeavour to provide our pupils with not only academic excellence but also life skills that will be invaluable at university and in their chosen careers.

“Having five pupils secure offers to attend Oxford University makes me extremely proud. They have worked hard with their teachers and I know they will make the most of the fantastic opportunities that will come their way. I would like to wish all pupils the best of luck with their studies and future careers”
