U19 netball team seek national glory

Yarm School’s U19 netball team are one of 18 schools to reach the finals of the National School’s Competition, following an unbeaten run at the North East Regional finals.

The talented players were crowned North East champions after winning seven out of seven matches.  The team have previously reached the final of the National Schools’ Competition, which is England Netball’s flagship school competition, twice when they competed at U16 level. 

This year’s National Schools' Competition final will be held on 18th March at Stanborough School, in Welwyn Garden City.

Mrs Naomi Redhead-Sweeney, Head of Girls’ Games, said: “I am ever so proud of the team and coach, Miss Sam Cottrell, who have trained extremely hard year after year. The girls have experienced the final of the National Schools’ Competition twice before and we are all hoping ‘third time lucky’.”
