Yarm School is situated in the attractive and historic town of Yarm on a beautiful stretch of the River Tees. Set in stunning landscaped gardens based around The Friarage building, the school combines historic and modern accommodation, providing outstanding classroom, music and sporting facilities.
The Nursery and Pre-Prep School (3 to 7 years) are housed in newly expanded premises around the White House. The Preparatory School (7 to 11 years) is based up Grammar School Lane, a stone’s throw from the Nursery and Pre-Prep. The Senior School (11 to 18 years) is located on an 18 acre parkland campus across the road.
Nursery and Pre-Prep
The Nursery is accommodated in the beautiful White House which links to the brand-new, purpose built Pre-Prep building. The specially landscaped external play area can be accessed from all classrooms on the ground floor.
The Preparatory School provides outstanding facilities for an all-round education. There are specialist suites for information technology, science, art and music. The floodlit multi-use all-weather games area provides first-rate sports facility for P.E and fixtures. The modern school hall provides a flexible space for P.E, assemblies and school productions.
The Senior School boasts a wooded parkland setting which has been lovingly landscaped. There is a modern river terrace which overlooks a beautiful stretch of the river Tees and many classrooms enjoy this picturesque view.
The state-of-the-art teaching facilities include science laboratories, art and design studios, a design and technology workshop, ICT suites and much more.
The performing arts centre for music, dance and drama includes the Princess Alexandra Auditorium, a separate studio theatre, a dance studio and music performance suite. The stunning 750-seat auditorium is a flexible space which can be used for performance, assemblies and exams. Separately, Music is taught in the brand-new Music School which accommodates classrooms, plentiful individual rooms where tuition on over 20 instruments is offered, a recording studio and drumming suite. In addition, there is a 140-seat lecture theatre with cutting-edge designed retractable seating, making it a truly flexible performance venue for talks and film presentations.
Beautiful views of the River Tees can be enjoyed over refreshments from the Bistro in the impressive Atrium. The Bistro sells a range of hot and cold snacks, smoothies and ice cream as well as Aspretto Coffee. The Auditorium, Recital Room and Studio Theatre are accessed through the Atrium, which serves as a breakout area for both school and the many public productions and performances which take place throughout the year.
The modern dining hall provides a superb venue for pupils to enjoy a delicious home-made lunch. There is a wide array of choice each day from hot meals to an extensive salad bar, a pasta bar, baked potatoes, soup, fruit bar and deserts.
The school has 4 floodlit, all-weather sports facilities on site, a Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, as well as 20 acres of playing fields nearby. Located on the banks of a beautiful stretch of the River Tees, the state-of-the-art boathouse offers fantastic training facilities.
There is a Yurt based in the woodland around the Senior School which is used for outdoor education, biology and eco-schools.
