Drama plays an important role in all areas of the school and ensures that our pupils can speak and perform publicly with confidence.

From an early age our through to Year 6 our pupils perform in the well-equipped  Pre-Prep Studio Hall, Prep Hall  and  the stunning 750-seat Princess Alexandra Auditorium, based in the Senior School, as part of their Christmas concerts and Prize Giving celebrations.  Our families are invited to the many performances that take place throughout the year in all of our performance spaces.

Throughout their time in Nursery and Pre-Prep the children have the opportunity to role play and also perform in nativity plays, seasonal celebrations and take part in performances at Prize Giving. Drama also permeates through aspects of the curriculum, particularly in literacy based subjects.

In the Prep School drama and performance are a feature of many areas of the curriculum and the children thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to perform on stage, in assemblies and as part of their lessons.  In addition, the children in Year 3 perform a Christmas themed production to mark their first term in the Prep School, Year 4 take part in a play in the Spring Term and the Year 6 children have the opportunity to perform in a musical in the Summer Term.

Drama features in our extra-curricular and activities programme throughout the year and provides opportunities for all children to further their passion for performance.

From Year 3 onwards pupils can take extra tuition in Speech and Drama with our specialist staff. They will be prepared for LAMDA examinations and have the opportunity to compete in local festivals.

The children across the School often visit local theatres to watch dramatic performances that are related to their curriculum areas. Workshops and visiting actors often provide further enrichment opportunities across the curriculum.
